About Perishables Jamaica LTD
Perishables Jamaica Limited (PJL) is a Jamaican owned and operated company, incorporated in Jamaica in October 1980.
PJL manufactures herbal teas under the brand ‘Tops’. The company has sixteen (16) flavours of teas.
PJL distributes its products locally (i.e. in Jamaica) through CARI-MED Limited and internationally to the USA, Canada, United Kingdom and the Bahamas through a number of foreign distributors.
The organization also packages products for other brands, namely, ‘Jamaican Country Style’, ‘Caribbean Exotic Gourmet’, ‘Nature Fresh’, ‘Sonita’ and ‘Jamaica Bahamas Imports’. Additionally, the organization sells ground herbs and spices to Tetley Tea Company Jamaica Limited.
The organization has a 20-acre farm that produces some of the dried peppermint and fever grass used in its teas. Additional raw materials are sourced from various local farmers/suppliers/processors (over 400), and where they are unavailable locally, as a last resort, they are acquired from CARICOM and other overseas sources.
PJL employs eleven (11) full time and fourteen (14) part time/seasonal employees.
